A Day in the Life of a Ryderwear Athlete: Maite Richert

Posted by Ryderwear HQ on

Our Ryderwear athletes are more than just the sculpted cores and sweat-soaked workouts you see on your Instagram feeds.

They’re real people, leading real lives beyond the lens, each with their own ambitions, anxieties and adversities to overcome.

What we want to do is offer a window into the people behind the physique. Sure, part of that is what they eat and how they train, but also their stories, their passions and their habits. How did they get to where they are today? What influences an influencer?

Maite Richert is a WBFF Pro, Online Fitness Coach and fitness model based in Germany. She’s also a Ryderwear athlete

We asked Maite to give us an insight into her rituals, her inspirations and the challenges she encounters every day. By showing you the woman behind the workouts, we want to connect you with our athletes on a human level, revealing the sacrifices and relentless work ethic it takes to be a Ryderwear athlete!

7:30AM: Rise & Grind
The first thing I do when I wake up is reach for the coffee grinder. My beloved coffee shot is my elixir of life, I don’t know how I’d survive without it! After slipping on the Ryderwear Elevate collection, I make my famous Maite Richert green smoothie. It’s one of my daily rituals (aside from annoying my husband). I’ll let you in on the secret and share the recipe with you.

-100ML Soy Milk
-200ML Water
-150G Cucumber
-5G Maca Powder
-5G Barley Grass Powder
-10G Collagen, to keep my body, skin and hair healthy from the inside.

Simply blend and let the gains commence!

8:00AM: Work
After my morning smoothie I take the 30 second commute from the kitchen to my laptop and check in on all of my personal training clients. I’m writing new training plans and challenges for them today. I feel blessed to be making a living following my passion and doing what I love. I started out in fitness in 2013 and made a lot of mistakes along the way. But every failure was a great lesson, and  helped me become the person I am today. I gave up two times before it became my true passion, and today I’m lucky enough to coach some amazing girls who are just starting their own journeys.

Because I’m a fan of Intermittent Fasting, I won’t have my first proper meal until 11AM, which doubles as a pre-workout meal. Today it’s pudding oats.

12:00PM: Workout

Today is leg day. My training style in one word is hard. I don’t like to mess around, and my workouts are designed around strength and resistance, progressive overload and the occasional HIIT cardio. During lockdown when the gyms shut I had to get creative and set up a home gym. I also had to adapt and put together workout programs for my clients both with and without equipment. I learned one valuable thing during that time: You don’t lose muscle as fast as you think! I like to wear Animal Instincts while I train, because it’s super lightweight and flexible, plus I love the animal print.

Maite’s Leg Day Workout
-Deadlifts 4 x 10

-Split Squats 4 x 12 each side

-Hip Thrusts on Smith Machine 4 x 12

-Heels elevated Goblet Squats 3 x 10

-Lying Leg curls 3 x 12

-Finisher : Frog Pumps

1:30PM: Meal Prep
After the gym I’ll have some lean meat and veggies as a post-workout meal. Then I’ll meal prep and work on my social media content while wearing the Lauren Simpson 3.0 collection (I know some will say three outfits in one day is excessive, but I love them that much!).

For me, meal prep is part of that every day grind to be the best version of myself, and get better and better. I’m continually working on educating myself in the fitness space, training hard and growing my personal training business by helping as many girls as I can to find their way into a healthier lifestyle.

5:30PM: Embrace the Outdoors
I’ll have some greek yoghurt as a snack then I’ll do an outdoor activity. Getting outside is so great for mental health, whether it’s biking, walking the dog or rollerblading (a very underrated leg workout!).

8PM: Dinner
Dinner is eggs, quinoa, veggies and avocado. There aren’t any comps on at the moment, so I’m just working on staying as fit and healthy as possible. It’s been 6 years of hard work, countless hours in the gym, lots of good food choice and a lot of dedication and consistency to sculpt my skinny body into an athletic one. I had my good and bad days, ups and downs, but at the end I love the results and confidence. In my opinion, a strong and fit body also represents a strong and confident mindset.

9:00PM: Me Time
Before I go to bed I’ll have a bit of ‘Me Time’. I’ll either have a massage, watch Netflix or read a book to further my knowledge. When a sense of normality returns I’m looking forward to the simple things in life, like going to eat at my favorite burger and sushi places and enjoying a few dates with my husband.
